RISK OF ELECTROCUTION AND SHOCK - before proceeding with this tutorial please seek advice or help from a certified electrician if you feel uncomfortable with any of the following steps as this tutorial involves working with potentially high voltages and current.
Before we start hooking up your pump, you'll need the following tools:
A Clyr Lite or Clyr Controller
Clyr power supply (24VDC)
A Pentair intelliflo automation cable
A small flathead screwdriver
A large Phillips
Wire strippers to shorten Pentair Intelliflo cable
Before you begin, please make sure you have powered on and connected your Clyr Controller.
🔌Connect your ControllerAlright, now it's time to start wiring the Clyr Controller to the pump. In the end, here's what we want to achieve:
In this step, you want to plug in the Pentair cable to the pump and then adjust the cable length to the Clyr controller. For reference, Pentair labels their yellow and green opposite of other vendors.
Yellow - RS485A
Green - RS485B
Now its time to make sure the colors match. If you haven't wired any existing equipment to the Clyr controller, it's a good idea to take our first available network using ports A1 and B1.
What are networks?
🖥️Clyr Controller RS485 NetworksPer the wiring schematic above, yellow should always go to an "A" port and green should always go to a "B" port.
You should have already added a Clyr Controller to your pool location in the app at this point. If you haven't check this out first:
🔌Connect your ControllerIf this has been done you can proceed. Go to your pool location and click "Settings"-> "Devices"-> "Add" -> "Pool Equipment". Once you're on the pool equipment page, we'll select a Pump.
Once you select pump, we'll need to configure the Pump.
First, choose a name for the pump. A good default is "Pump" but you may want to call it "main pump" or "filter pump". Next, in the dropdown, please select Pentair Intelliflo. You can change the default RPM if you please. This RPM is only used if the pump gets in an unknown state. Next, you can choose/set the priming time. Finally, if this pump is your main pool pump, be sure to select "Main Filter Pump"
Next, you'll want to select which network you wired the pump up to. Remember that we screwed our A / B cables into "A1" and "B1", so this is network 1. We will leave it as is, but if you used network 2, you'll need to change the network.
Finally, addresses on Intelliflo pumps are important. By default, all Intelliflo pumps are set to "Pump Address 1" in their settings. If you want to see how to do that, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eRQzyci-kg.
Why would you set a Pentair pump to a different address? In this case, if you have 2 Pentair pumps on the same network, they will need to be at different addresses. Use the following list to configure the proper addresses in Clyr if you changed the pump address:
Pump Address 2 - Clyr Address: 0x61
Pump Address 3 - Clyr Address 0x62
Pump Address 4 - Clyr Addres 0x63
And so on...
You're done! Click through the rest of the phone steps and arrive at the final screen.
You can either wait for the Clyr Controller to report back successful communication, or you can skip waiting for this and go test running the pump.
Now that the pump has been added and the power is on, quickly jump to the home screen, go to schedules, and add a schedule for your pump. After setting a quick schedule, the pump should fire right up, prime, and then run your desired RPM.

I wired everything up but the pump still shows an exclamation mark and says it's not communicating, what can do I do?
Try this first, sometimes the pump is in a bad state. Turn the breaker off for 60 seconds, then turn it back on.
Second, check to make sure your wiring matches the wiring schematic above?
Third, make sure all your wires and screw terminals are tight. If you've shoved multiple wires into one terminal, it could be that the wires aren't actually touching. Try using ferrules to join the wires together.
Fourth, if all else fails, sometimes the last resort is to try and reattach the screen or iAqualink to ensure that there are no faults/errors that Clyr doesn't detect.
