Controller backlight
Choose a built-in backlight preset without assigning a pool-light relay or changing pool equipment.
01 / Start with the right guide
Match your equipment
Use this guide only on a Clyr controller with the supported built-in ring/backlight. It does not add an external lamp to a controller that lacks the hardware.

- 3Built-in controller light
How the parts work together. This is a system overview, not a terminal wiring diagram.
02 / Get ready
Before you start
- Confirm the correct controller is online and has the backlight hardware.
- Check whether a Backlight item already exists before adding another.
03 / One step at a time
Set it up
Open the backlight setup
In Settings β Devices, choose the controller, then select its Backlight item. If it has not been configured, add the supported Backlight equipment entry.
Choose and save a preset
Select the desired preset in the preview and save. This form uses a preset selector rather than the AUX and Delay fields used by external relay lights.
Check the physical controller
Observe the built-in light. Confirm the intended controller changes and pool lights remain unaffected. If the expected option is absent, confirm hardware and firmware support with Clyr.
04 / Prove the result
Check it works
A saved setting tells you what you requested. These checks tell you what the equipment actually did.
- The selected controllerβs built-in light displays the requested preset.
- No external light, pump or relay changes state.
05 / Find the next useful check
If something is wrong
The backlight option or hardware is missing
Confirm the controller model and software support. Do not create a relay light or connect a lamp to an unused port to imitate the built-in feature.
06 / Save for later
