01 / Start with the right guide

Match your equipment

Use this guide for a heater with a manufacturer-approved dry-contact remote-control input. Nano and Clyr+ manuals include separate Hayward, Jandy and Pentair examples; match the heater and its selected remote mode.

02 / Get ready

Before you start

  • Record the equipment model, controller generation and installed software version. Use the matching product manuals.
  • Have a qualified installer isolate every relevant electrical supply and verify absence of voltage before opening equipment. Turning it off in the app does not isolate power.
  • Confirm the circulation pump runs and water is flowing before requesting heat, cooling or chlorination. Keep the manufacturerโ€™s interlocks and flow protection in place.
  • Confirm a reliable water-temperature source, the intended thermostat arrangement and the heaterโ€™s cooldown requirements.

03 / One step at a time

Set it up

  1. Match the remote-control mode

Have the installer identify the exact remote terminals and thermostat mode. Some two-wire modes expect the external controller to manage temperature; they may retain a high local limit. Do not assume the local setpoint remains the normal operating target.

  2. Record the chosen output

Use the output and approved contact arrangement in the matching Clyr owner manual. Label the connection Heater 1 or Heater 2 as installed. Verify that another device does not already use that output.

  3. Add the heater in Clyr

Open Settings โ†’ Devices โ†’ Add, then select the Clyr controller physically connected to this equipment. Open Pool Equipment and choose the item named below. App wording can vary by version.

Choose Heater, give it a clear name, and select the heater output that matches the physical installation. Set the commissioned target temperature and verify the displayed water temperature.

  4. Test the heat request under supervision

Establish circulation first. Request heat and observe the heaterโ€™s local indication and actual response. Cancel heat and verify that the request ends. A missing or implausible temperature reading must be resolved before automatic operation.

  5. Make the schedule match the installation

After the manual checks pass, create the required event in Clyr. Review its start, finish and equipment settings. Keep heating and chlorination within verified pump operation; an overlapping schedule is not a safety interlock.

04 / Prove the result

Check it works

A saved setting tells you what you requested. These checks tell you what the equipment actually did.

  • The heaterโ€™s local remote-mode indication matches the installerโ€™s configuration.
  • Heating is requested only with verified pump operation and adequate flow.
  • A canceled heat request stops heat as intended, followed by the required circulation cooldown.
  • Manual controls and schedules preserve the same operating limits.

05 / Find the next useful check

If something is wrong

The device is saved, but it does not respond

Check the selected controller, equipment type, physical network and address against the installerโ€™s record. Check the equipmentโ€™s own display for a fault. Isolate power before inspecting connections.

Manual control works, but the schedule does not

Check the eventโ€™s day, time, selected device and requested value. Check whether Manual or Service mode is overriding scheduled operation. Return to the intended mode and observe the next event.

06 / Save for later
