Hayward ColorLogic relay lighting
Match the lamp profile and relay, then verify ON/OFF, colors and shows before adding a program.
01 / Start with the right guide
Match your equipment
This guide covers relay-switched Hayward ColorLogic families. Identify standard ColorLogic, Universal ColorLogic, or ColorLogic 160/320 from the product label; these are separate choices in Clyr.

How the parts work together. This is a system overview, not a terminal wiring diagram.
02 / Get ready
Before you start
- Record the equipment model, controller generation and installed software version. Use the matching product manuals.
- Have a qualified installer isolate every relevant electrical supply and verify absence of voltage before opening equipment. Turning it off in the app does not isolate power.
- Have the installer verify the relay coil requirements, load rating, transformer, protective devices and lighting circuit against their exact manuals. Pool-light power must not be connected to a Clyr AUX output.
03 / One step at a time
Set it up
Record the lamp and relay combination
Read the model labels and identify the exact lamp manual. Record which AUX port controls this light group. Lamps sharing a relay must use a compatible control sequence.
Have the relay interface installed
With all relevant supplies isolated, have a qualified installer connect the approved Clyr relay cable to the matching low-voltage coil interface. Keep the relayβs load wiring and lighting power separate from the Clyr enclosure. Restore covers before power is restored.
Choose the matching light profile
In Settings β Devices, select the connected controller and add Pool Equipment β Relay Light. Set a clear Name, choose Hayward Colorlogic / Universal / 160 & 320 under Make/Model, and select the wired Aux port. Keep Delay (ms) at the value approved for the installation; it controls timing, not brightness.
Choose the exact family, not simply the Hayward brand. Universal ColorLogic requires supported firmware; the form checks controller firmware 1.44 or newer. The 160/320 option requires controller firmware 2.04 or newer, or Clyr Touch 3.11 or newer. If the option is missing, confirm the model and update through the supported process before proceeding.
Verify control before selecting a show
Turn the group on, confirm the correct lamps, then turn it off. Select one known solid color and allow the sequence to finish. Then test one supported show. Some lamps briefly switch off as part of color selection; do not interrupt the sequence.
If lamps disagree, use only the exact manufacturerβs approved synchronization procedure after confirming the profile. Repeated random power cycles can change a lampβs mode.
Save a lighting program
After the manual checks pass, create a program with the intended light group, color or show and end state. Run it once while watching the lights. The clip demonstrates the shared program workflow.

04 / Prove the result
Check it works
A saved setting tells you what you requested. These checks tell you what the equipment actually did.
- Only the named light group responds.
- ON, a known solid color, a supported show and OFF all produce the intended result.
- Multiple lamps on the same relay stay in sync.
- The program ends in the intended state.
05 / Find the next useful check
If something is wrong
ON/OFF works, but the color is wrong
Compare the lamp label, its configured operating mode and the Make/Model selected in Clyr. A working relay does not establish that the color protocol matches. Do not experiment with rapid power cycles; use the exact lamp manualβs recovery procedure.
Nothing happens, or the wrong lights turn on
Check the chosen controller and AUX mapping against the installerβs record. Have the installer check the relay and separate lighting circuit with power isolated. Do not change load wiring from the app.
